BINGHAM LINK
Several people have speculated over the years about whether a canal link had ever been
built between the Grantham Canal and Bingham. It is certainly not there now, but in our
newsletter no 37 of Bridge in 1975 an article was written by Chris Bates giving evidence of
its existence. This article was given a second ‘airing’ by Mike Atherley in the June edition
of Bridge published in 2019.

The above map is part of a copy of Cary’s England, published on the 11th June 1794, Sheets 42 - 43
which quite clearly shows a Grantham canal branch extending into Bingham.
